With thirteen movies released, the x-guys film collection is the 7th highest-grossing movie collection, having grossed over $6 billion global. After every film outgrossed its predecessor, several spin-off movies were launched, including three wolverine films (2009–2017), four x-guys: beginnings movies (2011–2019), and deadpool films (2016–2018), with the new mutants concluding the collection in 2020, after a 20-year-long term. 20th century fox obtained the film rights to the characters in 1994, and after severa drafts, bryan singer became employed to direct the first movie, launched in 2000, and its sequel, x2 (2003), while the third installment of the unique trilogy, x-guys: the last stand (2006), turned into directed by brett ratner.
