This caused the alternate Buzz to escape at full speed and, via time dilation, flew hundreds of years into the far future, where he encountered extremely advanced technology. Later, it is revealed that in an alternate timeline, Buzz returned after a successful hyperspace test, but Burnside tried to have him arrested with his soldiers for defying his orders. Buzz defies his orders to conduct one final test, especially after he sends personnel to decommission Sox, and despite Burnside doing his best to stop him, he manages to get into his ship and successfully achieve hyperspeed this time after making the necessary adjustments to the formula that Sox suggested after doing excessive research to find a stable formula for the hyper crystal. Commander Burnside took charge of Star Command and is pleased to see Buzz Lightyear in person (who he tells he was a big fan of during his childhood), but he also tells him that the colony has given up attempting to regain lightspeed capability and decided to live on T'Kani Prime, relying on a laser shield to protect the colony from the insects native to it.
